Some Android devices have difficulty connecting with Bluetooth Low Energy, especially the first connection. If you are having trouble, try these steps:
- If you are running Android 6.0 or later, go to Settings -> Apps -> Trac-Pac -> Permisisons and make sure that Location and Storage permissions are allowed. The app does not store or transmit precise location data, Google requires these permissions though for Bluetooth Low Energy to be enabled.
- Also on Android 6 or later, location services must be enabled. This is also a requirement from Google for Bluetooth LE.
- Close the app all the way, including from your app drawer - hold down the home button or the button that shows all open apps, and close the Trac-Pac Performance Optimizer app.
- Uninstall the app.
- Reboot the phone - this is important for this process to work!
- Go to the Google Play app store and install the Trac-Pac Performance Optimizer App.
- Make sure the shift light is powered on, wait 5 seconds after powering up before trying to connect.
- Open the app, and press CONNECT on the MODE or SETUP screen (or you can press ACTIVATE on the CHART screen). Your phone or tablet will probably vibrate, but the shift light may not respond to changes that you make in the app.
- Completely close the app similar to step one, no need to reboot though.
- Power off the shift light, and then power it back on. Wait 5 seconds.
- Open the app, and attempt to connect again. This normally results in a successful connection.
After you have connected successfully one time, conections should work well from that point on. Sometimes, however, the app may not connect every now and then. If that happens, just repeat steps 7-9 (close the app all the way, cycle power on the shift light, try again).
If you continue to have problems, send an e-mail to appsupport@fastlaneinnovations.com and include what type of phone or tablet you're using and what version of Android. Go to Settings -> About to find the version.
